Nokia Air&Style 07

On the first of December 2007 it is time for the 15th anniversary of the legendary Air & Style in the Olympic Stadium Munich. What do you think about the head to head contest format? Will you be there?

don’t think so, because th tickets are pretty expensive….

Soooooooo people, did you go there? If yeah, be sure to write a report and pics:) I just looked at the results. The tricks are getting more progressive each year.
1 – Kevin Pearce (cab 12)
2 – Mikkel Bang (sw bs 10)
3 – Torstein Horgmo (fs 10)
4 – David Benedek (dbl cork fs 12)
Those numbers are really out of this world. And Mikkel…omg, he’s still a puppy and doing this crazy stuff! Can’t imagine what he’ll be doing when he’s like 22yrs old.

But still I think that last years Air and Style was better ,more technical.And I am really glad that Mikkel Bang placed 2nd and I was a bit disappointed cuz heikki and eero didn’t make the superfinals.

jeah…I think last year’s final was technical top-end too.I expected Rice to get to finals with doubleBack rodeo or something, Erro with switch double back,...but hey…competitions are hard stuff.
Anyways…I heard that Hampus was injured, but where were White and Jussi?Mised some US and Scandinavian heavy hitters too.

This years AS was hectic too… It just on the first look doesnt appear so.
Last year the finals were sick, Anttis 1260 Tail was super sweet, Trice Dbl bckflip to 180 , was crazy!!! But this year in the finals you could see Benedek landing 1260 dbl Cork for the first time in the contest, which was to crazzy to be true! all the kids, Bang, Torstein and KP rock the whole stadium! With bunch of sick tricks! Not just the finals, but the whole contest was on top, including excellent Rookies with some even better then pros :)

i didn’t like the air and style, especially the finals. the tricks where sick thats right and it’s unimaginable what they pulled out. but i was sitting next to my girlfriend and i forcasted every single trick in the finals. that’s not really exciting, is it? two years ago the air and style was sooo sick with the modus that they have to do a style jump first and after that a technical jump. that was the best air and style i’Ve ever seen….
it’s too bad that they destroyed such an great event.

yeah, everything is pushed to the limits. Usually the winners are now the yougest ones and very technical. Quite different from what I remember say 5-6 years ago. (times of Resistence and true life).

that was the time i liked snowboarding the most. the resistance, true life and the return of the wildcats…just fun but also hard triggers

I whatch the event on the webcast. It was the first time that I was not live at the stadium, and I must say it was not such a good show. Lost of riders bailed – sure they tried hard tricks, but it looked that the landing was much softer, more bumpy due to warmer weather?, than last year. If somebody not too much into snowboarding would have seen the whole webcast, i think he would think that this “sport” is not very “professional”. Hey, these where “the best riders in the world” – and hardly none of them did not bail / scetch in at least one of his 3 jumps (most bailed 2 out of 3)...
I agree with rockafella – the style jumps where fine last year – thats a good show and it makes the whole thing more interesting (not just “spin to win”)...I am glad that I did not go there this year…by the way, did you see the crazy crash of the snowmobile guy:

...luckily he did not get hurt.

Ouch! I wonder what went through his head when he realized that he wasn’t gonna make the rotation.

hehe oh dudes, i checked the air and “style” out this year, again! And can agree with every one of you, the action was sick, yea! but the best riders in the world weren`t able to stick their tricks! The Youngbloods were the heros of the night!! but riders like Travis, Eero, Heikki….. i don´t know, but i think they haven`t done their job well! I also missed the style regulation to 540°! Just think back to Benedeks sw double shiftys…. whatever, but the snowmobile crash was sick… too sick i couldn`t believe what happened with the guy and his sled!! Jes, next year i will see the action on tv…it´s also the cheaper way.

style could be put out a bit more,that’s true…rotations can be superstylish till 720 i think…

Yeah, the old format rocked! But the best thing about AS is that they are acctually listening to riders and make what they want! With TTR and everybody just want to pull new tech stuff, too much style everywhere :)

Its still best competiton to watch for “normal” ppl…And anybody could win it! I talked to Travis, and he said that anybody could win it, its just matter of tiny things such as landing on small bumps or not, etc… But the riding is sick, everybody can land Sw Bs anything!!!DUDE thats crazy!!!

jpavli: thats wrong dude Anttis 1260 Tail from last year was super stylish, that nobody could not belive! i thought the same regarding style and number of rotations, bt was dead wrong when saw antti :)

It’s good and I still can’t believe how he could land that. But I really do prefer the slower more stylish rotations…this reminds me of freestyle skiing spins.

yeah for sure. this is “just” spin-to-win. nothing more stylish than bs 1

i agree with rockafella…puttin’ tailgrab into superspiner is very hard but not to stylish.I prefer stuff like shifty 7s from Hampus or anything Müller does.

bs1 rules! But I saw this thing live, and look stylish enough for “superspiner” :)
But what pissies me off, is that they re lying about how many ppl was acctually there.
This year the lowest ever, maybe 10,000 ppl.

It just got to go back to Innsbruck. I think on QP event in february it wil be 30,000 ppl for sure!
