Hello everybody, looking for a new snowboard and want something wider. Currently I’ve got Elan Vector 162, which is only 253mm wide. I’ve got EU44, which is 11US, do you think El Grande 163 won’t be an overkill?

Looked at the specs, but would really like to know, how wide is the board in the center of the insert holes. Doesn’t anyone of you has it at home and be so kind to measure the width?

Thanks Ondra

well if you want a wider board… the grande is 2.7 cm wider..

he mrandrew…how tall are you, what are your riding skills what do you want to do (more freeride i guess) and what is your weight?

8 or 9 years ago i had also troubles with my shoesize. i tried wider boards but they aren’t as easy to handle as not so wide ones so i changed the my stance to 15° and -15° and since that i haven’t got any problems with my shoesize (EU43,5).

Well, the El Grande 163 is 28mm wide, combined with the sidecut radius some common sense and enough attention in your beloved Math class, a good indication of the exact width can be calculated.

I’m not in the mood to do this right now, but I can tell you this. I own a 27mm wide (non-Elan) board and have the same shoe size. Currently I’m looking for a more narrow board because I believe mine is just too wide. So according to me: yes, it is overkill.

mrandrew i got the el grande 163 the last year and i use it till now and i’m very happy of this kind of product: agile, light and fast in turning. I ride 30% in slope, 70% in powder and i can say that the el grande is really a great board. Two friends of mine made the same chioce and now they say thanks to me. Last but not least, i make also backcountry with this board and i’d never change this board.

Totally backing Eddie!

El Grande is super flexible and fast in turning, which you wouldn t say cause of its size, but it really is!

I thank to Elan guys ever time when on slopes, cause of that board! They practicly saved lives to all guys and girls that are over 190 cm tall or bigger shoe sizes then rest of the ppl.

Thankx again! :)

Because of my shoesize (EUR 48/49) I just bought the El Grande. I tried is at once in an indoor slope, and I was amazed!

I terminated my former snowboard (Head Matrix (Wide, but not wide enough)), and I was looking for a wider one. I got to this one, and, to my surprise, it corners perfectly.

But still, I think with a size 44 there is no need for a board as wide as this one. Any other widebody does the trick i guess =)

well, I am sure the El Grande kills it in powder

Another El Grande question:

What exactly is meant by the Omega Sidecut? I read the discription on this website, but I couldn’t find out what it meant…

Fox_logo_icon cheshirefoxxx 346 post(s)

they took the bulgy part out of the sidecut near the nose and tail, which tends to get grabby.. so people wouldn’t bite it on landings or in turns..

yeah, it’s very forgiving.

And my very last El Grande question:

How does my board like the Big Jump? After some time on the small-but-not-so-small kicker it worked like a charm, but I am afraid of wrecking it…

answer is: ofcourse…no problemo.
