So everyone who rides probably experienced this. I think all of you know what I’m talking about. It doesn’t matter if you have dakine, level, burton etc. pipe gloves, but after a few times riding in them….well it’s better to just leave them outside the house. I have no idea why, but damn they STINK! I try to wash them…I even put more fabric softener and yeah they do smell nice, but after like 3 days it’s the old “I think if my dog sniffed them, he’d be high” case. Anyone have a special way of getting rid of this problem? or do you just keep on washing and washing and washing…like the energizer bunny?

I’ve never experienced this problem because I’m always losing them before they get the chance to smell…
sorry, but that also sucks :)

hmm, well.. i tend to layer even my gloves.. my boots.. a slim polyester base layer works great for a few reasons.. it’s trouble slipping bare hands back into gloves when they’re moist.. you don’t needto change socks when you get to the hill, just slip the puffier ones over the silkweights.. n’ most importantly: wash ‘em!! less fuss with the outer layers y’know

those small acrylics work too, i call them cheap0s =D

i try to avoid riding with gloves at all. if it’s not too cold it’s ok. So my gloves take a while until they are stinkin’

Riding without gloves?! I’d like to see your hands. Don’t you ever scratch/burn them from the snow/rails?

chesire: heh…tnx for the cool pic :) I’d layer them, but I’m afraid not much could fit under my pipe gloves :S

hmmm..no not really. but as i said i’m just riding without gloves when it’s warm so i can’t fall on ice.

there is an easy way to fix this. All you have to do is dry them out completely each time they get wet. Especially pipe gloves since they are not water proof.

If you are really worried about it, you should invest in a boot dryer. They arent too expensive, and just get a convection heat boot drier. Convection heat drys out the boots and gloves completely by using waves of heat as opposed to just blowing hot air. I have boots and gloves that dont smell at all after years of use.
