After checking out my board I counted about 8 breaks in my edges. Nice job,eh? Well my friends also have this problem. But the edges seem ok, just that they have a break. So I’m hoping they will still hold for some while before getting a new board. Anyone have this also? I’m a bit scared with rails, though. I was doing a fsboardslide and caught my backside edge. I didn’t find anything on the rail, so I was wondering if it could be this :/

now are these breaks that you have done or natural breaks in the weld?

Some boards have breaks in the edges to that it gives the board more flex to it making it less rigid.

If they are breaks you have done yourself, then the best thing to do is file them down if they are on a non effective edge on the board. If they are on the effictive edge, you are going to want to fix it better than just filing it down.

Since you do rails though, I would just file down the non effective edges though, and no worry about it.

it’s no big deal. even on the rails. There is no way to avoid breaking your edges when doin’ rails and even on the slope the can break. i never had a problem with breaks in the edges. Just file the edge so you can’t feel the breaks and the two sides are on same level again, because if they are’nt on the same level (like shown above) it could be that parts of the edge are ripped out, THEN you have a problem :-)

Nice edge :) but I think I’m abandoned by my imagination… :D

I also counted a few breaks in the edges of my former board but I did’t have problems as long as I filed it like exlpained above…

Haha…yeah, I was looking at that picture for like 5min…turning my head in all directions and trying to imagine something :D I guess I don’t really get the pic, but I think I know what rockafella tried to draw. Like if one edge is higher than the other? Well, not my case. I just have them broken, but they aren’t sliding apart. I think I’ll file them down and just ride until I finish of the board.
To agent-G: nope, no weld. Just real breaks where they aren’t supposed to be. I have them everywhere..but especially the backside edge. Some in the middle, some on the effective edge. But I will take that file…and there’s gonna be a whole lotta friction :D

oh shit. smtimes auto-completion of text and formatting tools aren’t what you want :-)

so check out this:

what i ment was if the edge looks like in the picture the in the left upper corner :-)

yeah, I understand what you mean…nope, they don’t do that. They are broken in one level.

yeah, just file the non effective ones. For anyone who does rails, there is no point to those areas on the board anyways. If they are seperating, and could show the core eventually, then you will want to epoxy it. But I say just ride the board till it breaks, then buy a new one.
